RNL Design
Denver, Colorado
RNL Design is a second-generation firm based in Denver, Colorado, with design offices in Los Angeles, California, Orange County, California, and Phoenix, Arizona. Founded in 1956, RNL recently celebrated its 50th year of continuous practice in the Rocky Mountain West. With a staff of over 200 and gross billings exceeding million, RNL today is one of the largest firms in the Western Mountain Region and is listed as one of the top 500 A/E firms in the country by Engineering News Record. RNL Design is a full-service A/E firm providing planning and programming, facility analysis, master planning and urban design, architecture, interior design, mechanical and electrical engineering, landscape architecture, civil engineering, and total design/build turnkey services. Because of this full scope of services, RNL is a single source for all the disciplines involved in design. In order to provide better service to its clients, RNL Design is organized in a series of Design Studios, each of which focuses upon a specific area of specialized practice. Studios function essentially as self-contained design practices, responsible for the overall client development, design, delivery, and construction of each project. A principal of the firm leads each studio. These specialized practice studios include Corporate, Commercial, Institutional, Urban Design/Landscape, Engineering, Transportation, Church and Government, and Design Technology. RNL was introduced to form•Z and the Mac by Larry Doane, FAIA, who came from SOM San Francisco, some 10 years ago. Up to that point the office was using exclusively 3D Studio on a PC. Dan Kessler, AIA, another form•Z advocate, also joined RNL about a year later, and has been working closely with Larry, the new "Design Principal". After seeing what was produced with form•Z, the firm invested in more licenses and it now has several people using form•Z on a regular basis.
