Although Bernd’s main occupation is technical documentation and creating all the images needed for this purpose, typically in 3D, his long standing experience in using 3D in general and CAD file handling quite often leads to jobs like the one seen here, which can be looked at as “hard-core custom modeling”, to use his words.

“The only source of information came from an incomplete set of 2D drawings (some drawn by hand, some made in 2D CAD systems) and some low resolution photos of similar compressors. The reciprocating compressors, built by a company in Switzerland have been modeled *completely* in form•Z.

Our illustration work is at about 95% done in 3D work, so form•Z is a ‘main pillar’ in my everyday work.”
